Bath Mats for Sydney — 1,000 GSM, Not 1,200

A bathmat is the only item in the range that lies flat on a cold floor, soaked, behind a closed door. Everything else dries hanging in air. Through a humid Sydney summer, a 1, 200 GSM mat will not dry overnight — not in the room, not in a small laundry. Stacked warm and slightly damp, it goes sour within days. Stay at 900 to 1, 000 GSM. Below 800 it squelches and pushes water back onto the floor. Most mildew complaints are a drying-time problem, not a fabric problem. A supplier offering an antimicrobial finish as the fix is selling you something that washes out long before the mat does. One thing Sydney does not have: hard water. Buyers from the Gulf or the US Southwest assume calcium is the issue. Here it is humidity, and only humidity. Construction: reinforced ground weave so it does not come back out of square, and a wider double stitched hem, because mats are dragged with a foot and pulled up wet. No rubber backing for commercial use — it delaminates within 40 to 60 hot cycles and sheds into the dryer. Sizes: 50 x 80 cm standard, 60 x 90 cm for suites and spa. Expect 5 to 7 percent shrinkage over three industrial washes. If a finished size matters, tell us the after-wash dimension and we cut for it.
