OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 means the finished textile has been tested for harmful substances against a defined limit-value list.
That is what it certifies. Nothing more, and it is worth knowing exactly where the line sits.
It is not an organic claim. It is not a recycled claim.
It is not an environmental claim at all. Printing it on packaging as one is a real risk under the FTC Green Guides in the US, the Green Claims rules in the EU and Australian Consumer Law, and the exposure sits with the seller, not the supplier.
It also says nothing about how the towel performs.
A certified towel can still be the wrong weight for your climate, shed lint for twenty washes, or lose its hem in an industrial dryer.
Certification and quality are two separate questions.
Ask them separately.
THREE THINGS TO DO WITH ANY CERTIFICATE YOU ARE SENT
Check the certificate number on the OEKO-TEX website. It takes a minute.
A logo in a brochure is not verification.
Check the product class. Bath towels sit in Class II, articles with direct skin contact.
Baby and toddler articles need Class I, which is stricter. A Class II certificate does not cover a Class I product.
Check whose name is on it.
A certificate belonging to a mill is not a certificate belonging to the trader selling you the goods, and the two are often presented as the same thing.
WHAT WE HOLD
Our partner mill holds OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 and MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX, along with GRS for recycled content, ISO 9001 for quality management, and BSCI for social compliance.
For organic we work through a GOTS certified partner facility, licence GOTS-BVIN0317, issued by Bureau Veritas.
That licence belongs to our partner mill, not to Kiran Global Exports, and we say so on every document.
For certified organic or recycled goods, the document that actually proves your shipment is a transaction certificate issued in your own company name after production.
Ask every supplier for one. Most cannot produce it.
